Welcome to Eagle Park Stud

Eagle Park Stud is a newly established thoroughbred horse property conveniently located in the central west city of Orange in New South Wales.

Eagle Park Stud is owned Peter and Jan Ward who came to Orange in October 2002 after a nine year stint on a 2000 acre sheep and cattle property at Cowra. Peter’s involvement in thoroughbred horses began in 1978 with the purchase of Folk Hero, who went on to become a handy city winner. For the next 25 years, Peter dabbled in the racing industry with moderate success.

After selling his Cowra property, he decided to enter the breeding and racing industry on a more serious note. Peter began to accumulate a band of quality broodmares and interests in numerous racehorses including multiple group winning filly Lotteria trained by Gai Waterhouse.

In December 2003, after months searching, Peter was able to purchase a property in a high rainfall area just 10 minutes south of the city of Orange. In January 2004 an extensive development program was started and Eagle Park Stud began operating.

Eagle Park Stud comprises 200 acres of undulating rich volcanic basalt soil, with an abundance of timber and high quality water supplied through spring fed dams and bores. Eagle Park boasts first class facilities with an emphasis on horse safety and achieving the highest standard of horse care. Improvements include a modern stable/hospital barn, foaling and breeding facilities, rubber lined day yards, round yard and horse walker and lush improved pasture fenced into numerous paddocks of varying size with post and rail netted fencing.

Eagle Park Stud aims to achieve exceptional results from the breeding barn to the racetrack by utilising high quality staff and expert advice and being uncompromising in relation to horse care, safety and nutrition. Our services are now used by leading Sydney and country trainers which include John Hawkes, Chris Waller, David Pain, Joe Pride, Garry Portelli, Tracey Bartley, Alison Smith and Andrew Molloy just to name a few.Through our assoation with them and others we have had great success on the race track.
